Myrtle Beach’s 6 Best Steakhouses

Best Steakhouse

Let me start by saying: I don’t eat steak. Im the one ordering the grilled veggies, seafood, or mushroom risotto, sipping my wine, and internally judging the lighting and tableware. But my husband? He’s a steak connoisseur, and by that I mean: he’s picky, opinionated, and will absolutely not tolerate anything overcooked, under seasoned, or meh.

So while I may not order a ribeye, I do know where to find a perfectly seared, well-aged, expertly cooked steak in Myrtle Beach. These six steakhouses have passed his test repeatedly and somehow still manage to make me (the non-steak girl) happy too.

1. 21 Main at North Beach
This is our #1 go-to. Sophisticated, intimate, and consistent. It feels like a New York steakhouse but
with Southern hospitality-and it never disappoints.

Why He Loves It:

  • Dry-aged prime cuts cooked exactly how he wants them.
  • The tomahawk steak is legendary.
  • Beautiful presentation without unnecessary fuss

Why I Love It:

  • Their seasonal risottos and seafood are always divine
  • The service is top-tier, and the ambiance feels polished but not stuffy
  • Great wine list and real table linens (yes, it matters)

2. New York Prime
If your husband takes steak seriously, this is the place. New York Prime is bold, masculine, and unapologetically all about the meat-and somehow still manages to treat non-meat-eaters like royalty
too.

For Him:

  • USDA Prime beef, aged in-house
  • The Bone-In Ribeye is his go-to
  • Old-school steakhouse service: crisp, confident, and classic

For Me:

  • I order the sea bass or sauted spinach and mushrooms with a martini
  • Their signature chopped salad is unexpectedly addictive

3. Thoroughbreds Chophouse
This one’s a classic Myrtle Beach institution. Elegant, clubby, and full of character. It has an
old-world charm that still holds up-and the steak? According to my husband, “flawless.”

His Picks:

  • Filet au Poivre with cognac peppercorn sauce
  • Rack of lamb (when he wants to switch it up)
  • Table-side Caesar, because drama is delicious

My Picks:

  • Stuffed portobello mushrooms or the seafood trio
  • Quiet booths and white tablecloths-just how I like it

4. Ruth’s Chris Steak House
You know what you’re getting at Ruth’s Chris: upscale, sizzling, and consistent. It’s not trendy, but it’s reliable.

For Him:

  • The New York Strip or Cowboy Ribeye
  • That signature sizzle = steak theatre

For Me:

  • I love the stuffed mushrooms, creamed spinach, and sweet potato casserole
  • The ambiance is warm and low-lit

5. Carolina Roadhouse
More casual, always crowded, and surprisingly fantastic. This is our weeknight steak fix when we want quality without the formalwear.

What He Gets:

  • The prime rib-generous, juicy, and full of flavor
  • Sometimes the ribeye, depending on mood

What I Order:

  • Loaded baked potato, house salad, and maybe some fried shrimp
  • Buttery croissants are a must

6. Aspen Grille
The underdog of the list, but one we always return to. It’s quiet, refined, and the menu rotates with the seasons.

Why It Works for Him:

  • High-quality cuts, well-prepared, with more of a chef-driven twist
  • The filet with red wine demi-glace is his usual pick

Why It Works for Me:

  • Seasonal veggie plates, salmon, and goat cheese salad
  • Fantastic wine pairings and peaceful space

Final Thoughts:
While Myrtle Beach has plenty of “grill this, grill that” chains, these six places actually get it right-for both steak purists and their more plant-friendly partners.

So whether you’re in it for the bone-in ribeye, the table lighting, or the chance to pretend you’re on vacation from your own kitchen, this list delivers.
