Adventures Approved by My 6-Year-Old (a.k.a. My Personal Entertainment Director)

If you’ve ever tried to keep up with a 6-year-old on a mission, you know it requires stamina, snacks, and strategic planning. My daughter also known as my Personal Entertainment Director has made it her job to find the fun in every corner of Myrtle Beach

Here are our favorite places to go when we need giggles, thrills, and maybe (just maybe) a nap afterward.

  1. Ride the SkyWheel & Explore the Boardwalk

She calls it the giant flying bubble, and honestly, same. The SkyWheel offers ocean views while the boardwalk below serves up street performers, cotton candy, and carousel rides.

Best photo moment: Sunset over the ocean, ice cream in hand

Parent tip: Do this early evening for less heat, more magic

  1. WonderWorks = Brain Meets Bounce

WonderWorks is like a science museum that drank too much soda. From bubble labs to astronaut simulators, its packed with activities that spark curiosity and cardio.

Kid Quote: This place is like school, but with slides!

Our favorites: The hurricane tunnel, upside-down house photo op, and the glow-in-the-dark rope course

  1. EdVenture Myrtle Beach Learning Disguised as Play

This spot is brilliant for imaginative playkids can be vets, pilots, firefighters, and cashiers all in one afternoon. Plus, it’s calm and educational (which means I can breathe).

Great for low-key days

Best spots: Airplane cockpit, market checkout, and the doctors station

  1. Myrtle Waves Water Park

It’s the kind of place where squeals of laughter echo across every slide. There’s a big splash area just for little ones, plus a lazy river for moms who “accidentally” drift away.

Best part: She’s soaked, smiling, and fully ready for a nap afterward.

Bring your own snacks and flip-flops trust me.

  1. Savannahs Playground Market Common

This. Place. Is. Everything. It’s a massive, inclusive, beautifully designed playground with zip lines, musical panels, and climbing structures that make my daughter feel like she’s in a Pixar movie.  Its totally free and absolutely amazing

Bonus: It’s near coffee shops, which I treat like a personal reward system

  1. Broadway Grand Prix

Seven go-kart tracks, bumper boats, mini golf, arcade games basically, this place turns my daughter into a thrill-seeker and me into a snack-holding cheerleader.

Mini karts are just her speed, and she loves winning

Save the arcade for last, it’s the cool-down phase!

  1. Ripley’s Aquarium Broadway at the Beach

There’s just something magical about walking under a tunnel of sharks while holding a kid’s hand. It’s mesmerizing for both of us, and the touch pools? A fan favorite.

Big hits: Jellyfish gallery, stingray lagoon, and penguin playtime

You’ll get the best candid photos here promise.

  1. Broadway Theater: Dino Park Live Show

Instead of the Charles Bach magic show, we tried something new and it roared! Dino Park Live is interactive, fun, and just the right amount of suspense for kids who love Jurassic things without full-on T-Rex trauma.  Great pacing, fun visuals, and a cool story

Bonus: Seats are comfy, and the show wraps just in time for dinner.

  1. Dolphin Cruise

We hopped aboard a short boat tour and spotted dolphins splashing beside instant excitement. My daughter pretended to be a sea captain the rest of the week.

Pack sunblock, a snack, and be ready for squeals

Pro tip: Sit near the front for the best views.

  1. The Classic Beach Day (With a Plot Twist)

Every beach day becomes a full-blown adventure movie. There’s treasure (shells), villains (waves), and elaborate sandcastles with full backstories. I play my role. I brought snacks.

Essentials: Shovels, goggles, towels, and patience

Favorite memory: Laughing until we cried while the tide stole our sand cake

Bonus Day Plan (Tried-and-True Mom Flow)

Time | Activity:

  • Morning = Savannahs Playground + EdVenture
  • Midday = Lunch + Broadway Grand Prix
  • Afternoon = Water park splash or WonderWorks
  • Evening = SkyWheel ride or Dino Park Live Show
  • Night = Bath time + Beach storybook dreams

Final Thoughts

Raising a 6-year-old is like hosting a themed party every single day. But Myrtle Beach has become my co-host offering just the right mix of excitement, learning, and those unforgettable moments when the laughter is loud and the clothes are sandy.

Myrtle Beach: Come for the ocean, stay for the childhood memories.
