The Best Mexican Restaurants in Myrtle Beach (My Faves)

Mexican Food

Fajitas, Tacos, Salsa & Magarita

When it comes to food, there’s nothing like a big ol’ plate of Mexican food to hit the spot, right? Whether it’s sizzling fajitas, crispy tacos, or a frosty margarita, Mexican cuisine has a way of making everything feel better. Living in Myrtle Beach, I’ve become a bit of a Mexican food connoisseur, and today I’m sharing my top spots in the area for when you’re craving some south-of-the-border goodness. From vibrant family cantinas to cozy hidden gems, these places never disappoint – and yes, I’ve personally eaten my way through each one. So, let’s dive in!

1. Fiesta Mexicana Cantina

If there’s one place that screams party from the second you step inside, it’s Fiesta Mexicana. The name literally says it all – and trust me, this place is an absolute fiesta. I’m talking colorful decor, festive music, and even live Mariachi bands on the weekends. It’s the kind of place where you can’t help but smile the moment you walk in (especially after a margarita or two). If you’re not having fun here, you’re doing it wrong.

The food is where Fiesta Mexicana shines. You cannot go without trying their tableside guacamole – they make it fresh right at your table, and let me tell you, it’s fire. Perfectly creamy with just the right amount of lime and spice. I could eat the whole bowl by myself (don’t judge me). For entrees, their fajitas come sizzling to your table, filled with tender steak, shrimp, and chicken. And the margaritas? Let’s just say you’ll want to order one with the mango flavor – it’s like summer in a glass. All in all, Fiesta Mexicana is a blast and a half, and it’s totally family-friendly. Every time I go, I leave stuffed, happy, and definitely planning my next visit.

2. Cantina Imperfecto

Cantina Imperfecto is the cool kid on the block, and trust me, it’s worth the hype. This place has a slick, modern vibe with high-end decor that makes you feel like you’re dining in a trendy city, yet it still manages to keep that welcoming, laid-back charm. It’s perfect for date night or a night out with friends. Oh, and the tequila selection? Next-level. They really know their stuff when it comes to cocktails – their mezcal margarita is one of my faves.

Now, onto the food. Let me tell you, Cantina Imperfecto takes Mexican cuisine to the next level. Their tacos are loaded up with fresh ingredients, and their shrimp tacos? Mind-blowing. Plus, their steak burrito is stuffed with tender grilled steak, rice, black beans, and smothered in creamy cheese – it’s huge and so satisfying. But the true star here is the dessert – the churros are out of this world. Crispy on the outside, warm on the inside, and topped with ice cream. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll thank me later.  So, if you’re looking for a more upscale Mexican experience, Cantina Imperfecto is where it’s at.

3. Sun City Café

Now, Sun City Café isn’t your typical fancy-pants Mexican spot – in fact, it’s pretty chill. It’s one of those local gems that you’ll probably only find if you’ve lived in Myrtle Beach long enough to know about it (and trust me, locals LOVE it). This little dive has been around forever, and for a good reason. The vibe is laid-back, unpretentious, and totally welcoming. It’s one of those spots where you walk in, sit down, and feel like you’re part of the family.

The food here? Well, it’s not fancy, but it’s damn delicious. The tacos are street-style, small but packed with flavor. I’m obsessed with their carnitas – tender, juicy pork that’ll make you wonder why you don’t eat carnitas every day. They also serve up huge burritos (definitely big enough to share) and quesadillas that are crispy and oozing with cheesy goodness. And let’s not forget about their chips and dip – they’ve got homemade salsa and a white queso dip that’s so good, I’ve definitely gone overboard and filled up just on that. You need to try it. The best part? It’s super affordable and casual – the kind of place where you just roll in after a beach day, grab a margarita, and chow down.

4. La Poblanita

La Poblanita is a true hidden gem in Myrtle Beach. It’s small, low-key, and doesn’t boast any fancy decor or huge flashy signs – but the food? It’s all kinds of amazing. When I first walked in, I was a little unsure, but once I tasted the food, I was hooked. It’s got that authentic Mexican vibe that makes you feel like you’re dining in a family’s kitchen somewhere down in Mexico.

The tacos here are phenomenal – I love their al pastor and carnitas tacos, which are stuffed with tender, juicy meats and topped with fresh cilantro, onions, and just the right amount of lime. La Poblanita is all about freshness and flavor, and it shows. I’ve also had their enchiladas, and the salsa is just fire – it’s smoky, tangy, and packs a punch. The best part? Everything is so affordable. You get massive portions for a really good price. Plus, the staff is incredibly friendly, and even though they’re a bit shy with English, they’ll make you feel like you’ve been coming here for years. It’s not the flashiest spot, but La Poblanita delivers authentic Mexican goodness every time.

So there you have it, folks – my favorite Mexican spots in Myrtle Beach that I can’t get enough of. Whether you’re in the mood for a fun fiesta, a chic night out, or just craving some good street-style tacos, these places have got you covered. They each
